Handmilled Soap is coming back
I try to make sure I make products that people enjoy - our most popular being our Black Pine Tar and Traditional Lye soaps. So when something doesn’t sell well, I figure I can pull it. Not the case….MoSoap customers have requested to bring back our Hand Milled Lye Soap! So starting June 1, it will again be available. I’m going to make a special edition with peppermint oil along with our standard unscented Hand Milled. Peppermint is so refreshing, and going into summer it’s a favorite of many.
The Hand Milled Lye soap is our ultra gentle twice cooked lye soap that is an old time method for ensuring mildness. Many folks consider the word “hand milled” to mean the same as “french milled” that they are completely different. French Milled soap is extremely hard soap that has been made with machines, handmill is just what is sounds like - it’s been milled by hand. Another word for handmilled can be “rebatched” if the original batch was bad for some reason. That’s not the case with our soap. We start with our popular Traditional Lye Soap, grated it by hand and then cook again adding extra palm kernel oil. We find it to make a silky lather and one of our favorite soap to turn into liquid. If you want to download our sheet from our MoSoap site, click here to open this Adobe Acrobat file (pdf.) It’s our method for making shampoo bars into liquid, but it works well with standard soap too.
You can handmill your own soap, that’s why we offer soap in bulk form and in the vegetable based shredded form. Check out our Handmilling Suggestions form on our website . The one thing to keep in mind, hand milled cold process soap is not like Melt and Pour soap. It’s thicker and similar to puddy, so expect to scoop it in the mold.
